The Type 43 Aviation Scout (43式航空偵察艇,   Yonjūsanshiki Kōkūteisatsutei?) or Hoverbike (ホバーバイク,   Hobā Baiku?) also referred to as Hover(s) on holograms, were aerial vehicles that were introduced and utilized in the 2017 Godzilla film, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters.

Appearance[]

Type 43s looked much akin to modern day snowmobiles in terms of build, featuring white plated armor, and multiple thrusters mounted on the craft's bottom and nose, enabling 360 degrees of hover capabilities. This vehicle also possesses a windshield which doesn't cover the user's face, presumably for the sake of aerodynamic design.

History[]

Godzilla: Project Mechagodzilla[]

It was first invented for Operation: Long March.

Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters[]

The Type 43 was first used by Haruo Sakaki against Godzilla Filius in order to determine its shield generating organ. This would fail, but Eliott Leland would come in to assist Haruo, at the cost of his own life.

Later, Type 43s would be used in the diversionary fight against Filius, with multiple squads of the vehicles rotating in groups, firing and later escaping from the monster's retaliatory attacks. Rilu-elu Belu-be and Adam Bindewald led two squads in the fight, and multiple vehicles would be lost in this conflict.

A Servum attack would slow the fight down, with more of the vehicles going down due to the Servum's speed, and maneuverability, although, this intervention would end shortly after.

As Godzilla Earth awoke after 20,000 years of dormancy, Yuko Tani, Adam, and Belu-be would use their Type 43s to escape the titan's subsequent wrath.

Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle[]

The remaining Type 43s were referenced shortly after the remnants of Haruo's forces were taken in by the Houtua, with Adam stating it'd be impossible to use them for flight or escape purposes.

Arsenal[]

Enhanced mobility[]

Multiple mounted thrusters on the Type 43 enable 360 degrees worth of hovering capabilities, allowing for versatility in flight and airborne combat. This was seen with a Type 43 pitted against a Servum, as a pilot was able to come to a dead stop in the air, and pivot like a turret to attempt to shoot down the attacking monster.

Mounted weapons[]

The Type 43 lacked any heavy weapons, but did possess an automatic cannon on its nose. Haruo Sakaki used these against Filius, and they proved ineffective against the monster's hide, not even raising its shield. Later, these cannons would be used against Godzilla as well to just provoke the monster into moving after human and Bilusaludo forces.

These cannons were effective against Servum, however, being able to take the monsters down with some sustained fire.
