Depending upon the specific translation--and the website, review, or accompanying media in question--Takeda is referred to almost interchangeably as a scientist, a science writer, a novelist, Yuri's research partner or adviser (with at least one source listing him as no more than her assistant), a journalist, specifically a newswriter for Digital Q, and the nondescript title of "Researcher".
The English-language subtitles, as well as the dub, give no information beyond the fact that he assists Yuri in her research. The American IMDB uses the description "Science Writer" for Takeda, while the Japanese Movie Database glosses over the matter entirely, simply listing his name. The English language Wikipedia ignores his profession as well, saying he is simply "Yuri's friend", whereas the machine translation of the Japanese Wikipedia article lists his job as both a novelist and a science writer. While this is technically possible, it is more likely to be a product of the inaccuracies of machine translation.
