The ShodaiTorikera (初代トリケラ?) is the Triceratops design used in the 1977 Toho, Tsuburaya and Rankin/Bass film, The Last Dinosaur.

Name

The ShodaiTorikera's name comes from shodai (初代?), meaning first generation, and Torikera (トリケラ?), which comes from the Japanese name for a Triceratops, Torikeratopusu (トリケラトプス?).

Detail

The ShodaiTorikera, like its successor, the RaishuTorikera, was constructed to fit current scientific understanding of dinosaur biology in the 1970's. The suit drags its tail along the ground, and has a squatting position, a popular depiction of ceratopsians in the 1970's, and is similar to lizards, crocodiles, and turtles. It has a large head and is a violet-greyish color.
