The ShodaiTirano (初代ティラノ?) is the Tyrannosaurus rex design used in the 1977 Toho, Tsuburaya, and Rankin/Bass film, The Last Dinosaur.

Name

The ShodaiTirano's name comes from shodai (初代?), meaning first generation, and Tirano (ティラノ?), which comes from the Japanese name for a tyrannosaurus rex, tiranosaurusu rekkusu (ティラノサウルス·レックス?).

Detail

The ShodaiTirano, like its successor, the RaishuTirano, was constructed to fit current scientific understanding of dinosaur biology. The suit drags its tail along the ground, and has exceedingly short arms.
