MechaGodzilla Question Mark Kodansya Manga

Machine G is a G-Force Mecha which first appeared in Kodansya's Godzilla Manga.

Appearance

Machine G bears a remarkable resemblance to MechaGodzilla 2, but lacks the Plasma Grenade of its counterpart, instead having a brushed metal torso. He also has large metal spikes behind his shoulders, and a long spike that stretches out from his forehead. His jaw also has a pronounced chin, and he appears to be much more bulky than MechaGodzilla 2.

History

Kodansya's Godzilla Manga

Machine G was deployed by the G-Force shortly after Godzilla defeated King Ghidorah III and Neo Gigan. The G-Force felt that Godzilla's power made him too much of a threat to ignore, and also deployed an attack jet with Machine G. Godzilla confronted Machine G in a city, and the two duked it out, with Machine G clearly having the upper hand. While the attack jet slowed Godzilla down with its cables, Machine G brutally mauled Godzilla, blasting his weaponry at the Kaiju King's eyes, causing them to haemorrhage ferociously. To further the torment, Machine G then pried apart some of Godzilla's dorsal plates, causing the beast even further pain. Eventually, Godzilla had to retreat to slowly regenerate some of the damage that Machine G had incurred upon him. Although Machine G's jet had been heavily broken by Godzilla, having one of its cannons dented and its nose torn off, Machine G left the battle relatively undamaged. Later, after Dr. Oniyama releases King Godzilla, G-Force watch Godzilla's struggle against King Godzilla, and decide to deploy Machine G to help fight King Godzilla.

Trivia

  • In the entire manga, Machine G is the only opponent who forced Godzilla into retreating.
  • Machine G is also the only opponent who doesn't attack Godzilla's chest during his battle with the Kaiju King.
  • It is possible that Machine G's similarities to the then-unreleased MechaGodzilla 2 were included upon the instruction of Toho themselves - Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla 2 was most likely in production at the time of the manga being released, and Machine G was used to tease the new Mecha's appearance to the public, in a similar fashion to Godzilland.
