The King Ghidorah (キングギドラ,   Kingu Gidora?) of the AniGoji continuity is the fifth Ghidorah of the Godzilla franchise, and the first within the Toho reboot series of films.

King Ghidorah was first alluded to in the 2018 film, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, where Metphies says the name of an unspeakable destructive force that destroyed his home planet, to Haruo Sakaki, that being Ghidorah.

He will play a role in Godzilla: The Planet Eater as the main antagonist, where he will finally descend onto the planet and fight Godzilla Earth.

This Ghidorah takes a radical departure from prior incarnations of the monster, looking much akin to Manda, with multiple long, serpentine bodies.

The body of Ghidorah looks like fiery energy, and Ghidorah's heads feature a Servum-like aesthetic, with long, tooth filled mouths, and multiple eyes, a first for the iconic kaiju.

This Ghidorah is also partially transparent, as per the film's poster, which shows him engaged in battle with Godzilla Earth.

A pamphlet promoting The Planet Eater distributed in Toho cinemas however, may hint towards Ghidorah's true form being much more akin to that of his predecessors, with a silhouette of the kaiju being present.

The roar of Ghidorah was first heard in The Planet Eater's first teaser, and was a loud, high pitched bellow, followed by a raspy snarl.

Pre-City on the Edge of Battle

Ghidorah was stated to have destroyed the Exif homeworld, leading to the species finding their way to Earth.

Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle

Ghidorah was seemingly first alluded to as Endurph leads a prayer on the Aratrum, during which he references waiting for the day where their god will descend into the world, implying Ghidorah is their god, or at least deified.

Later, Metphies would speak to Haruo in a cave, confirming the latter's question that their civilization was destroyed by kaiju, leaving behind nothing but their words and culture, even going on to say that Godzilla is not even worth fearing in comparison. Metphies offers to share one sacred word with Haruo, and whispers it to him, simply being: Ghidorah.

Godzilla: The Planet Eater

Ghidorah will play a role in the conclusion to the anime Godzilla trilogy.
