History[]

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II[]

In 1992, the Japanese government grew concerned about the perpetual threat of Godzilla. To combat any future encounters, resources were poured into the creation of a dynamic aerial weapon called Garuda (a spiritual successor to the Super X). The ominous aircraft was supposed to be the ultimate anti-Godzilla weapon, but was soon rendered obsolete and was replaced by Mechagodzilla, a mecha created by the 23rd century technology salvaged from Mecha-King Ghidorah. Although Mechagodzilla was powerful, it was defeated by Godzilla during their first confrontation. In order to improve its flaw, Kazuma Aoki convinced Dr. Asimov to make changes to both the mecha by finally putting Garuda to use. This upgrade combined the two machines into a new mecha.

Meanwhile, G-Force planned to deploy Mechagodzilla with the G-Crusher weapon to destroy Godzilla's secondary brain, discovered by the recent encounter of Baby Godzilla. The young creature was utilized as bait, but the mission went awry when a giant pterosaur named Rodan attacked the transport helicopter and stole the infant's container, trying to rescue its adoptive kin.

In response, Mechagodzilla was immediately dispatched with Kazuma Aoki piloting Garuda close behind to lead Rodan away from the transport container. After a short fight, however, Garuda was hurled into a nearby building by Rodan. As Kazuma rushed to repair his fallen vehicle, Mechagodzilla knocked the pterosaur away with a plasma grenade, and Rodan fell unconscious. At that point, however, Godzilla arrived, intent in uniting with the young Godzilla. Godzilla and Mechagodzilla clashed, but the kaiju overpowered the mecha. Kazuma finally made the proper repairs, and after Mechagodzilla rammed into Godzilla, Garuda docked onto Mechagodzilla's back to form Super Mechagodzilla.

As the battle between Godzilla and Super Mechagodzilla raged on, the mecha soon overpowered Godzilla with a barrage of energy blasts. When it seemed Mechagodzilla had won, Rodan regained consciousness. Seeing Godzilla dying and knowing Bayby Godzilla needed a guardian, Rodan sacrificed himself to give Godzilla his life energy, as well as an increase in power. With this new strength, Godzilla decimated Super Mechagodzilla and destroyed both Mechagodzilla and Garuda.
