Mothra (モスラ Mosura?) of the Cataclysm continuity is a giant moth kaiju that appeared in the IDW comic series Godzilla: Cataclysm.
Name[]
Mothra (モスラ) is a combination of the word moth and the suffixation of -ra, a common suffix among kaiju names.
Design[]
This Mothra's design heavily resembles the imago and larvae from Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. However, unlike the 2003 imago, this Mothra can shoot antennae beams, just like its Heisei incarnation.
Personality[]
Mothra has always been a kind and benevolent deity in all her appearances, Mothra is shown to have regards to Biollante, being protective when she is being attacked by Godzilla, Mothra came to her aid and assisted her, believing that she may be the key to restoring the former greenness of the Earth. Mothra is shown to be selfless when she sacrificed her life to distract Destoroyah long enough for Godzilla to regain balance and continue his battle against him.
Origins[]
Mothra appeared in the past, along with other kaiju, who fought against Godzilla. People pray to her in order to receive good luck upon doing so.
History[]
In this series, Mothra, along with other kaiju, were shown to have fought Godzilla in the past. People pray to Mothra, hoping that good luck will come to pass whenever they do so. In the present day, Mothra reawakened in order to help Biollante against Godzilla. After Biollante was defeated, Mothra tried her best to hold off Godzilla but was weakened, her wing getting burnt in the process. After a fragment of Biollante was taken by Shiori, it grew wild and started to cry out, attracting the attention of Megaguirus and her Meganula swarm. Mothra left Godzilla and headed towards Megaguirus, upon meeting each other, the two engaged in a fierce battle, the Meganula approached Mothra and slashed at her with their stingers but she was able to defeat the swarm using her scales.
Godzilla interrupted their battle with a blast of atomic breath, which incinerated Megaguirus' wing. Afterward, Mothra continued to fight Godzilla, which cost her left wing. After she was defeated by Godzilla's spiral breath, she appeared again to assist Godzilla in his battle against Destoroyah. She managed to take down Destoroyah with her antennae beams, however, Destoroyah incinerated her with a point-blank blast of his Micro-Oxygen Beam, killing her in the process. In the finale, two Mothra eggs were shown hatching on a secluded island, one of which shows a reborn larva, ready to take the mantle of responsibility and become the earth's new protector.

Wind blasts[]
Mothra can emit powerful gusts of wind by beating her wings.
Antenna beams[]
Much like her Heisei incarnation, Mothra can fire beams from her antennae, however, these beams are red in coloration, highly resembling Mothra Leo's infrared rays.
Scales[]
Mothra can emit scales from her wings which can heal injuries, reflect projectiles and enemy attacks. She used her scales to heal Biollante's wounds and to defeat the Meganula.
Durability[]
Mothra is shown to have some sort of durability, even after getting hit by Godzilla's atomic breath multiple times, she can still regain flight, though her wings suffer extreme damage upon doing so.
Reproduction[]
Mothra can reproduce asexually by laying one or more eggs.
Weaknesses[]
Mothra's wings are fragile and can get scorched whenever it makes contact with Godzilla's atomic breath. Her skin can be pierced by the Meganulons' stingers, and she is also defeated when she got hit by a blast of Godzilla's spiral beam. A point-blank blast of Destoroyah's Micro-Oxygen Beam was enough to incinerate her entire body in just seconds.
