Demon

The Demon (from the 1957 movie Night of the Demon) made its appearance in Jacques Tourneur's classic horror picture Night Of The Demon(1957). It first makes a cameo at the start of the film and then reappears in the climax. While Tourneur wanted the dread to rely entirely on suggestion, the film's producer Hal E. Chester felt it necessary to put in this demon, as monster movies were immensely popular in the fifties.
Description
The Demon in the film is original and striking, with giant black horns and the nostril and gape of a cat. It has sharply-pointed ears, startling wide eyes and immensely powerful limbs. In the finale, we see that the demon is as large as any carnivorous dinosaur, and just as deadly - easily ripping a man apart in minutes. The monster is summoned by occult specialist Dr. Karswell to kill skeptic Dr. Holden, who believes that Karswell's witch cult is entirely fake.
